Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of One Question, One Hexagram (一事一卦) (the "Service"), a web application that generates I Ching (Yijing) readings. By using the Service you agree to these terms.

1. What the Service is

The Service is software. Each reading is generated automatically by a program that follows rules from classical sources. It is not provided by a human fortune teller, and no person reviews your question.

2. For entertainment and reflection only

Readings are provided for entertainment and self-reflection. They are not predictions of fact and are not medical, legal, financial, psychological or other professional advice. Do not rely on a reading to make important decisions. If you are in crisis or need professional help, please contact a qualified professional or local emergency services.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to purchase paid features.

4. Paid features and billing

Some features require payment: a one-time full reading, or a monthly subscription. Prices are shown on the pricing page before purchase. Our order process is conducted by our online reseller and Merchant of Record, which handles checkout, payment, sales tax or VAT, invoices and billing inquiries. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled; you can cancel at any time from the link in your receipt email, and access continues until the end of the paid period.

5. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service: no attempts to break, overload or reverse-engineer it, no automated scraping, and no use that breaks the law.

6. Content and licences

The software, design and original translations are ours. Classical texts and the historical images used (coin photographs, candle footage, book image) are in the public domain or under CC0, as credited on the site.

7. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue features. We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.

8. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions you make based on a reading or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
